Baseball Recap: Crawford Beats High Tech SD for Their Third Straight Victory

Crawford won against High Tech CV last Tuesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Crawford Colts' way against the High Tech SD Storm as the Crawford Colts made off with a 16-5 win. Considering the Colts have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jesse Altamirano Verdin and Alejandro Guzman made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Altamirano Verdin pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Guzman pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Altamirano Verdin scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3, while Guzman scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Altamirano Verdin has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Crawford let Jeffrey Krantz and Alexis Carrillo run wild. Krantz scored a run and stole Five bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Carrillo scored three runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Carrillo a new career-high in stolen bases. Abraham Carillo-Ceron was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Crawford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Tech SD only posted an OBP of .406.

The victory (which was Crawford's third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for High Tech SD, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crawford will square off against Southwest SD at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for High Tech SD, they will challenge High Tech CV at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. High Tech SD is facing High Tech CV at the right time seeing as High Tech CV is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
