Basketball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral lost against Carlsbad back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chaparral Lobos were beaten by the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls 82-18. While losing is never fun, the Lobos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Cavemen/Cavegirls are ranked 20th).

Chaparral has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Carlsbad, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will venture away from home to square off against Hatch Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carlsbad has already played their next matchup (against Clovis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
