Basketball Recap: Brayden Graham and Owen Dumbroski Secure Win for Serra Catholic

Serra Catholic won the last time they faced Clairton and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Serra Catholic Eagles walked away with a 65-56 victory over the Clairton Bears. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Bears are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Serra Catholic to victory were Owen Dumbroski and Brayden Graham. Dumbroski went 8 of 15 en route to 23 points and eight rebounds, while Graham went 9 for 15 on his way to 19 points. Dumbroski's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Sean Walker was another key player, putting up nine points.

Serra Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Serra Catholic's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Clairton, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Serra Catholic will challenge Geibel Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Geibel Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Clairton, they will take on California at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clairton is facing California at the right time seeing as California is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
