Softball Recap: Mulberry Drops Season-High Score on All Saints' Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mulberry). They blew past the All Saints' Academy Saints 20-2 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Jazmyn Stierwalt made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alanah Rau and Lylah Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Rau went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple, while Jones went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Rau a new career-high. Lorianys Castanon Cruz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triples of the season.

Mulberry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as All Saints' Academy only posted an OBP of .267.

Mulberry's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for All Saints' Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Mulberry will square off against McKeel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for All Saints' Academy, they will face off against First Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
