Basketball Preview: Sterling Rangers vs. Santa Fe Indians
Sterling and Santa Fe are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Sterling Rangers will jump right back in to play the Santa Fe Indians at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Sterling is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Sterling saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 58-51 to Goose Creek Memorial.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe came up short against Bridgeland on Friday and fell 53-42. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Bears are ranked 311th).
Sterling will have to contain Aidan Jewell as he made an impact in Santa Fe's last game. He posted 20 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Jewell's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Crable, who had four points in addition to 17 rebounds and four blocks.
Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Santa Fe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
