Basketball Recap: Sam Mead's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heritage over Furtah Prep

Heritage easily dispatched Rock Springs Christian Academy on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Heritage Hawks fell just short of the Furtah Prep Falcons by a score of 51-49 on Saturday. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 62-46.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Mead, who went 6 for 10 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds. Mead is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last 14 games he's played. Barron Ofosu-Kwarteng was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Heritage's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 19-6. As for Furtah Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Heritage nor Furtah Prep have any future games scheduled.
