Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Brycelynn Swafford and Rylee Dodson Lead Rolla to Victory

Rolla proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 28) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Grain Valley Eagles, sneaking past 43-41. The victory was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rolla was led to victory by Rylee Dodson and Brycelynn Swafford. Dodson posted 12 points along with six boards and five assists, while Swafford went 6 of 7 on her way to 12 points. The dominant performance gave Swafford a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Watkins, who put up six points.

Rolla has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Grain Valley, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-1.

Rolla and Grain Valley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Rolla (ranked 34th) will meet Liberty (ranked 133rd) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rolla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Grain Valley (ranked 19th) will meet Lee's Summit North (ranked 208th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
