Softball Game Preview: St. Anne Cardinals vs. Grant Park Dragons

For the second straight game, St. Anne will face off against Grant Park. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, St. Anne came up short against Grant Park and fell 6-1. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost nine in a row.

For Grant Park's part, Cheyenne Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. Hayes has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Adelyn Karstensen and Lola Malkowski did most of the damage at the plate: Karstensen went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Malkowski went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Karstensen a new career-high. Ava Desiderio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

St. Anne's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Grant Park, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
