Recap: Holcomb Longhorns vs. Hesston Swathers
It was a good run, but the Holcomb Longhorns unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-38 walloping at the hands of Hesston. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Holcomb in their matchups with Hesston: they've now lost five in a row.
Holcomb lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylee Wickwar, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jera Kruleski, who scored 11 points.
Holcomb's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Hesston, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holcomb and Clay Center will face off on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Hesston, Hesston and Hillsboro will face off at 5:45 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hillsboro is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
