Baseball Recap: Ukiah Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Ukiah not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 11-1). Everything went their way against the Maria Carrillo Pumas as they made off with a 9-1 win. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Pumas on April 3rd, they had to take a 5-1 defeat.

Brayden Beebe was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ukiah is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Beebe was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, George Gibbs was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Ukiah's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Brody Ford was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Ukiah's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-10. As for Maria Carrillo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Ukiah will have a chance to go back-to-back against Maria Carrillo: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
