Basketball Recap: Mya Hinds' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Green Canyon over Preston

Green Canyon was the 73-20 winner over Preston when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Green Canyon Wolves took a 43-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Preston Indians. The Wolves' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Green Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Hinds, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Hinds has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Talyssa Nelson, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Green Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Green Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Preston, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Green Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against Ridgeline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgeline will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Green Canyon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Preston, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-38 win against Star Valley on the 4th.
