Softball Recap: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons vs. Iroquois West Raiders
The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons made easy work of the Iroquois West Raiders on Tuesday and carried off a 15-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
Izzy Gawthrop and Jillian Rosendahl made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Gawthrop pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Rosendahl tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At bat, Gawthrop scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Rosendahl went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Hyatt, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Kietzman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's record is now 2-0. As for Iroquois West, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
