Basketball Game Preview: Woodbridge Vikings vs. Colonial Forge Eagles

The Woodbridge Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Colonial Forge Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodbridge will be strutting in after a win while Colonial Forge will be coming in after a defeat.

Woodbridge took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 victory over Hylton. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since February 16, 2024.

Woodbridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayanna Porter, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. What's more, Porter also posted a 44% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maia Melendez, who had 14 points and three steals.

Woodbridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Colonial Forge entered their contest against Riverbend on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Colonial Forge was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Riverbend. The Eagles were up 20-4 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Colonial Forge's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Woodbridge, their record is now 11-12.

Woodbridge and Colonial Forge were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, but Woodbridge came up empty-handed after a 49-48 defeat. Can Woodbridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
