Basketball Recap: Dunedin's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Dunedin lost against East Lake back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dunedin Falcons took a 71-54 bruising from the East Lake Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Eagles are ranked 92nd).

Dunedin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being SHERWIN SIMMONS, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. SIMMONS is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was JALEN JACKSON, who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

East Lake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Cooper, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Greg Samuels, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Dunedin's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for East Lake, their victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunedin will square off against Tampa Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Tampa Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups. As for East Lake, they will challenge Clearwater at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clearwater is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season.
