Baseball Recap: Jacobs Takes a Loss

Jacobs had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-13 to make it four. They fell just short of the Central Rockets by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Golden Eagles have suffered since April 11th.

As for Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Central's part, Shane Lamberti looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Lamberti has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Liam Schultz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Koertgen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Coming up, Jacobs will be playing at home against Lake Zurich at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Central, they will face off against Coal City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Coalers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
