Softball Recap: Henry Clay Takes a Loss

Henry Clay couldn't beat Frederick Douglass on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 7-6. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Elise Pearson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

Henry Clay's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Frederick Douglass, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season.

Henry Clay will square off against Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Frederick Douglass, they are taking a road trip to face off against Paris at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.28 runs per game on average), something the Broncos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
