Freire Charter posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They skirted past Kensington 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Freire Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dennis Brunson out in front who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Brunson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Ibrahim Mahmoud was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Franklin Learning Center can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Mastery Charter Hardy Williams by a score of 48-38. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Franklin Learning Center has managed all season.
Freire Charter pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Franklin Learning Center, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Freire Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Franklin Learning Center in their previous matchup back in January of 2019, winning 67-59.
