Football Recap: Somerset Falls Short of Owensboro Catholic in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Somerset can now relate to. They fell 27-19 to the Owensboro Catholic Aces on Friday. The game marked the Briar Jumpers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Miles Edge produced another solid effort rushing for 153 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry for Owensboro Catholic. Edge really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Another player making a difference was Dre'Mail Carothers, who threw for 178 yards and one touchdown.

Somerset's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Owensboro Catholic, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Somerset does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Owensboro Catholic, they will take on Beechwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Aces 13.6, the Tigers 7.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
