Baseball Recap: Hampden Comes Up Short

Hampden fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Bangor on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 4-3. The Broncos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 6-2.

Hampden saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Cote, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI. Cote has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Hampden moved to 8-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Bangor, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Hampden is set to challenge their familiar foe Mt. Blue at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bangor will square off against rival Mt. Ararat at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.2, the Eagles 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
