Baseball Recap: Centennial Cougars vs. Ravenwood Raptors
Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ravenwood Raptors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Raptors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-0 loss on Tuesday.
Eli Wells was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Wells was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Luke Dennis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Ravenwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0-1.
While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
