Baseball Recap: Decatur Gets the Win

Decatur is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Kentlake on Monday, but Kentlake came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Decatur Golden Gators came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Kentlake Falcons. While the Golden Gators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Decatur got a great performance from Hunter Buol as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 6.1 innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave Buol a new career-low.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eric Havili, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Decatur's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Kentlake, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Decatur will have a chance to go back-to-back against Kentlake: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
