Pro Stock Royals Academy dropped their record down to 13-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Providence Day Chargers, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Royals have suffered since April 4th.
Pro Stock Royals Academy got a good showing from Zach Rometo, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Rometo a new career-low in walks (one).
On the hitting side, Pro Stock Royals Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Santos, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
As for Providence Day, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Providence Day's side, Lawson Copeland tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Copeland a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Nelson, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Providence Day is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Austin Ward was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Coming up, Pro Stock Royals Academy will venture away from home to challenge Grace Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Providence Day, they will host Cannon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
