Softball Recap: Gray's Creek Beats Douglas Byrd for Their Third Straight Win

Gray's Creek had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Douglas Byrd on Wednesday. Gray's Creek was the clear victor by a 19-0 margin over Douglas Byrd. Considering the Bears have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Annie Ratliff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Ratliff was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Amariya Green was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Amber Miller, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

The victory was the third in a row for Gray's Creek, bringing their record up to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas Byrd, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Gray's Creek has already played their next matchup, a 9-6 victory against Jack Britt on the 21st. As for Douglas Byrd, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 34-10 loss against Seventy-First on the 25th.
