Soccer Game Preview: Sumner vs. Newsome

The Sumner Stingrays will square off against the Newsome Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sumner is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Durant onto the board and left with a 2-0 win.

Meanwhile, Newsome had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 3-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Wolves, who have now won ten contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Newsome has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight games. As for Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.

Sumner beat Newsome by a goal in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sumner since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
