Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Owen Foote and Lee Burgess Lead Veritas Christian Academy to Victory

Veritas Christian Academy entered their tilt with Pinnacle Classical Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Eagles 51-48. Those 51 points were actually the fewest the Warriors have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Leading Veritas Christian Academy to victory were Lee Burgess and Owen Foote. Burgess went 6-for-11 on his way to 19 points and four steals, while Foote posted 16 points and five rebounds. The contest was Foote's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Easton Bishop, who put up six points and 11 boards.

Despite the loss, Pinnacle Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Braylon Gentry, who shot 45% from the field en route to 13 points. Gentry is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wheeler Stuart, who had eight points.

Veritas Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Pinnacle Classical Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Veritas Christian Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Carolina Day at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Pinnacle Classical Academy, they will host Haywood Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
