Baseball Recap: Coleman's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Coleman lost a heartbreaker the last time they played St. Charles, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Comets blew past the Bulldogs 8-2 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Comets as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Travis Murray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyler Young, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Joaquin Campbell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Coleman's record now sits at 3-10. As for St. Charles, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coleman will host Merrill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vandals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Charles, they will be playing at home against Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
