Basketball Recap: Durango's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Durango entered their tilt with Grand Junction Central on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 62-38 margin over the Grand Junction Central Warriors. Given the Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Warriors are ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grand Junction Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Rooks, who posted six points in addition to ten boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Rooks is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Broly Watts also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

Durango is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game.
