Baseball Recap: C.B. Aycock Finds Home Field Redemption Against Smithfield-Selma

There's no place like home for C.B. Aycock, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Smithfield-Selma Spartans a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Falcons in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won seven in a row.

Ty Swenson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Janeson Steele, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Landon Davis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

C.B. Aycock hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Smithfield-Selma struck out eight times.
