Basketball Recap: Riverside Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Riverside has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Greeneville Greene Devils. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked seventh in South Carolina, while the Greene Devils are ranked 101st in Tennessee).

Greeneville's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abby Adkins, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Adkins has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyla Jobe, who posted 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Riverside's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Greeneville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wade Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Greeneville, they will take on Knoxville Catholic in a tournament on Monday. Knoxville Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
