Basketball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Central Rockets

The Cary-Grove Trojans will square off against the Central Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cary-Grove will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Central, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Cary-Grove sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 victory over Central on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Trojans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Rockets are ranked 86th).

Cary-Grove will have to keep a close watch on Jacob Johnson and Patrick Magan, a pair of players who had a big impact on Central's prior game. Johnson posted 19 points and six rebounds, while Magan went 5-for-11 en route to 12 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Magan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of LJ Kerr, who had seven points and three steals.

Cary-Grove has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points over those games. Central's loss dropped their record down to 22-9.
