Basketball Recap: Wesson Finds Home Court Redemption Against Port Gibson

There's no place like home for Wesson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 42-37 victory over the Port Gibson Blue Waves on Friday. For the Cobras, this counts as revenge for the 55-27 win the Blue Waves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Port Gibson lost, don't look at Ger'Kiya Flowers. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points. Another player making a difference was Nya Washington, who put up two points and five rebounds.

Wesson's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-10. As for Port Gibson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing South Pike the next time they take the court. Port Gibson will host South Pike at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Wesson will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
