Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Roswell walked away with it. They blew past the Clarke Central Gladiators 50-7 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Roswell had a senior duo take command as Trey Smith threw for 137 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes and Wills Campbell picked up 115 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Roswell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clarke Central only rushed for 125.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Roswell's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Vasean Casey with two.
Clarke Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lagracion Little, who picked up 108 receiving yards and one score. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 58 yards.
Roswell's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Clarke Central, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.
Coming up, Roswell will challenge Sequoyah at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will need to watch out since the Chiefs have now posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups. Clarke Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
