Basketball Recap: Mary Persons' Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Mary Persons hadn't done well against Jackson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mary Persons Bulldogs secured a 45-41 W over the Jackson Red Devils. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Mary Persons found their leader in sophomore Dee Grier, who went 9 for 15 en route to 22 points and five assists. Josiah Knights was another key player, putting up six points and 13 rebounds.

Mary Persons' win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Jackson, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Mary Persons wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-43 defeat against Whitewater on the 24th. As for Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-56 victory against Academy for Classical Education on the 25th.
