Softball Recap: St. Louis Catholic Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

St. Louis Catholic won the last time they faced DeRidder and things went their way on Monday too. The Saints put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 10-3 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Mattie Fullington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abby Traub was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Jillian Richard was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

St. Louis Catholic pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for DeRidder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-16.

Looking ahead, St. Louis Catholic will square off against DeQuincy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for DeRidder, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Washington-Marion at 5:00 p.m. The Charging Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.27 runs per game on average), something the Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
