Raymondville and Lyford are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2016, but not for long. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Raymondville will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Raymondville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Progreso to the tune of 76-0 last Friday. The Bearkats have beaten the Red Ants the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Red Ants has come to flipping the script.

It was another big night for Traeshaun Washington, who rushed for 203 yards and four TDs on only eight carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Jose Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Raymondville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lyford, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They took down Falfurrias 20-6 last Friday.

Raymondville better keep an eye on Ryan Gonzales. He was instrumental in Lyford's win, rushing for 61 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Gonzales has posted since back in September of 2024.

Raymondville's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Lyford, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Raymondville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 263.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lyford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 193.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Raymondville and Lyford were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Raymondville came up empty-handed after an 8-7 defeat.
