The Bishop Verot Vikings will square off against the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bishop Verot 3.3, Berkeley Prep 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Bishop Verot is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Avon Park 12-2. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Paige Bettermann made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Bettermann was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, McKenna Robbins and Jaelyn Riley did most of the damage at the plate: Robbins went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Riley went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Riley is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Willa Pagnutti, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Bishop Verot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avon Park only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lake Placid a 4-0 shutout. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lake Placid's batters probably weren't too happy with Avery Powers, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up a single walk).
At the plate, Berkeley Prep's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Crerand, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Bishop Verot pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Berkeley Prep, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
Berkeley Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Verot hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Berkeley Prep, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Bishop Verot's hitters?
Bishop Verot came out on top in a nail-biter against Berkeley Prep in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
