Basketball Recap: Largo Sets Scoring Season-High Against Crossland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Largo). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Crossland Cavaliers 86-20. With the Lions ahead 66-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Leading Largo to victory were Aysiah Harris and Aleah Rodriguez. Harris went 9 for 11 on her way to 21 points along with six assists and five boards, while Rodriguez went 9 of 14 en route to 23 points. The matchup was Harris' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Noelle Crosby was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Crossland saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zaida Birruete posted nine points.

Largo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 52.7 points. As for Crossland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Largo Lions take on the Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crossland, they will head out to face off against Fairmont Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Angela Green and Kendra Gaton.
