Football Recap: Water Valley Takes a Loss

Water Valley dropped to 5-2 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They were outmatched by the Baldwyn Bearcats and fell 43-12. The matchup marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Although Water Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Parker Turnage and Zae Bradford.

As for Baldwyn, their record now sits at 6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Baldwyn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gray Earnest led the charge by rushing for 68 yards and one touchdown, while also picking up 44 receiving yards and one TD. Earnest got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 54 yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was Brandon Johnson, who picked up 124 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Coming up, Water Valley will look to defend their home field on the 17th against Myrtle at 7:00 p.m. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Baldwyn, they will head out to take on Hatley at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The game will give the Bearcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
