Baseball Recap: Summertown Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Summertown dropped their record down to 18-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They fell 12-7 to Eagleville. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Eagleville this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 back in March.

Cason Blackwood was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Summertown: the team is 12-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Graham Howell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Eagleville, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That lines up perfectly with their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On Eagleville's side, Drake Rzemieniewski tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Rzemieniewski has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddox Bouldin was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last nine contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Gleason, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summertown will head out to face off against Forrest at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eagleville, they will challenge Cannon County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
