Preview: Waldron Mohawks vs. Franklin County Wildcats

The Waldron Mohawks will be home for the holidays to greet the Franklin County Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, everything went Waldron's way against Knightstown as Waldron made off with a 60-40 win. The victory was just what Waldron needed coming off of a 75-49 loss in their prior match.

Waldron's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Fischer, who scored 12 points along with six assists and four steals. The matchup was Fischer's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Emerson Lindsey was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Meanwhile, Franklin County waltzed into their contest Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 63-44 win over Talawanda. Given Franklin County's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 115th in Indiana, while Talawanda is ranked 362nd in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waldron's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Franklin County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Waldron against Franklin County in their previous meeting back in November of 2020 as the squad secured a 66-38 victory. Does Waldron have another victory up their sleeve, or will Franklin County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
