Softball Recap: Martin County Triumphs

Martin County extended their postseason success on Thursday against Eastern Wayne. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Erica Sturgill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty'Hiera Wooten, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Martin County pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Eastern Wayne, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.

Martin County has already played their next matchup, a 7-1 win against South Lenoir on the 14th. Eastern Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
