Basketball Recap: St. Martinville Comes Up Short

If St. Martinville was feeling good fresh off their 75-36 takedown of IDEA Bridge last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Martinville Tigers took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Catholic - N.I. Panthers. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, St. Martinville still got an impressive performance from Kristian Batiste, who went 6-for-8 en route to 17 points and three steals. That's the most points Batiste has posted since back in December of 2024. Makharee Narcisse was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

St. Martinville's loss dropped their record down to 15-17. As for Catholic - N.I., the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Martinville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cecilia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Martinville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. As for Catholic - N.I., they will challenge Houma Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
