 After a string of five wins, Cascade's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They lost  14-7 to the Newport Cubs. Cascade was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Newport apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  last Monday.
 Cascade got a good showing from  Jaelyn Lowry, who   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Amyah Miranda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  fired off two  home runs and five  RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Haylee Kastl, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Cascade's loss  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 20-5. As for Newport, their win  ended  a  nine-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 2-17.
 Cascade will play host again  on Friday to welcome Scio, where first pitch is scheduled  at 4:30  p.m. As for Newport, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Sweet Home at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
