Softball Recap: Trigg County's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Trigg County entered their tilt with Crittenden County on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 5-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in March.

Tember Oliver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Veyda Grinols, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kady Fuller, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Trigg County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Crittenden County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trigg County will face off against Christian County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crittenden County, they will square off against Caldwell County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
