Baseball Game Preview: Duchesne Eagles vs. North Summit Braves

For the second straight game, Duchesne will face off against North Summit. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Braves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Duchesne has three straight wins, North Summit has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Duchesne made easy work of North Summit and carried off a 17-1 victory.

Connor Karren was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Nashden Goodliffe was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Rylann Butler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Duchesne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Duchesne's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for North Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
