Recap: Independence Patriots vs. Midland Trail Patriots
The Independence Patriots lost against the Midland Trail Patriots back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Independence received a tough blow as they fell 71-54 to Midland Trail.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Midland Trail to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Gladwell, who scored 15 points along with three blocks and two steals. That's the first time this season that Gladwell posted two or more blocks. Justin Cooper was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Independence has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Midland Trail, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Independence will head out on the road to challenge Summers County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Summers County is ranked 78th, while Independence is ranked 100th). As for Midland Trail, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pocahontas County at 7:30 p.m. Pocahontas County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
