Softball Recap: Fairlawn Jets vs. Anna Rockets
Fairlawn had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it 14. They lost 16-6 to the Anna Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 last Friday.
Daisey Vondenhuevel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lilly Cathcart, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Anna, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.
On Anna's side, Brooklyn Cruse was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits.
