Softball Game Preview: Central Academy Cougars vs. Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors

The Central Academy Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Central Academy made easy work of Forest Hills and carried off a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Carys Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Central Academy got a big performance out of Melanie Jones, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Allison Proffitt also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Metrolina Christian Academy had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Hickory Grove Christian on Friday as Metrolina Christian Academy made off with a 19-4 win. The Warriors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024.

The victory got Central Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Central Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Metrolina Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
