Baseball Game Preview: Gibson Southern Titans vs. Southridge Raiders

Gibson Southern hasn't had much luck against Southridge recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Titans will be playing at home against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Gibson Southern will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Gibson Southern is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Pike Central on Tuesday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Gibson Southern got a great performance from Brogan McClellan as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts McClellan has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Seth Parsons was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Campbell, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Gibson Southern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Southridge came up short against Evansville North on Wednesday, falling 7-1. The Raiders have struggled against the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Gibson Southern pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southridge, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
