Baseball Recap: Cranford Starts Season with Win on the Road

Cranford had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Oratory Prep Rams by a score of 8-3. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cranford got a great performance from Christian Pereira as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Tripodi, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brayden Fry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Looking ahead, Cranford will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Dayton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oratory Prep, they will head out to face off against New Providence at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
